Exterior Design

Now in its 5th generation, the 2022 Grand Cherokee comes back to the market with a completely redesigned exterior. It adopts many of the visual elements of the Grand Cherokee L, which was unveiled earlier.

Despite these changes, this Jeep SUV continues to sport a rugged and refined silhouette with, depending on the model, 17- to 21-inch wheels, a floating roof, a longer hood than that of the previous model year, and LED lights in the front and rear. What's more, each version features its own unique stylistic details.

Beneath the hood of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Your Jeep SUV could be equipped with several engines, which will depend on the model you choose. The Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L come standard with a 3.6 L V6 engine with 293 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. You can also select an optional 5.7 L V8 engine with 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission on all models.

What's more, depending on the model, the Grand Cherokee can be equipped with different 4x4 systems: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II, which will allow your SUV to handle even the most difficult weather conditions and the most demanding trails.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland

For its part, the Grand Cherokee 4xe will offer a DOHC powertrain, composed of a 2.0 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower, combined with two electric motors and a 17 kWh lithium-ion battery. This powertrain generates a total of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, while its total all-electric range is of 40 km.

As for its towing capacity, it will depend on the engine you choose for your Grand Cherokee:

• V6: 6200 pounds
• V8: 7200 pounds
• 4xe: 6000 pounds

Space and Technology Aplenty

The Grand Cherokee is very spacious and can comfortably seat up to 5 passengers (base and 4xe models); with its third row of seats, the L version increases its capacity to 6 or 7 passengers, depending on the version. The Grand Cherokee and 4xe also offer lots of cargo space with a storage capacity ranging from 1,068 to 2005 L, depending on whether the rear seat is folded down or not. As for the Grand Cherokee L, it offers 1,328 L of space with the third row folded, and up to 2,395 L behind the first row of seats.
